Third Week of Plan 9

The early catch phrase was to build a UNIX out of a lot of little systems, not a system out of a lot of little UNIXes.

The future envisioned by Plan 9’s designers has largely not been realized. Machines do not, as a rule, share resources. Distributed systems never really took off.

What does the future hold?
